About the conference
Australian Association for Research in Education's annual conference has been the primary forum in Australia for supporting and disseminating research across a wide range of educational fields. In this the aim has always been to ‘make a difference’ – to the quality of schooling, to teachers’ work and lives, to students’ experiences and more recently to the quality of education beyond compulsory schooling. AARE has always been motivated by a strong social justice agenda and acknowledged the diversity of students, teachers and forms of schooling. The research presented at AARE Conferences has been at the edge of new ideas, new ways of understanding the educational experience and new forms of practice.
AARE encourages researchers from Australia and our international colleagues to bring local, national and global perspectives to engage with the theme Making a Difference, by addressing issues of inclusion and diversity through new approaches to teaching and learning, innovative forms of leadership and management and new approaches to meeting challenges in research methodologies, production and publication.
